C’est triste, mainly for me, that I can’t keep up with this blog. Being a full-time graduate student really takes its toll. That sounds like an excuse, doesn’t it? Well, lets see, where to start after ages of not blogging? Still roaming around DC enjoying good company, food, and music when I get the chance. I just returned from a mini-trip to Chicago. Checked out Moto, which was a dream — worth the 5 hours. It was definitely an extraordinary experience. More and more, I am falling in love with molecular gastronomy. Too bad I can’t cook for the life of me. Don’t even get me started on trying to learn. However, I am an excellent taster of food…don’t forget it!
In terms of music and art, I have been listening to Gotye, Blouse, Milagres, Kindness, Grimes, and Polica. Favorite shows I have been to this Spring/Summer so far have been School of Seven Bells, Fiona Apple, and SBTRKT. Lana del Rey is a guilty pleasure. Loving art by Micci Cohan.
I have also been geeking out to Incognito by David Eagleman and You Are Not So Smart by David McRaney. In one way or another these books are both about the brain. If we think we have complete self-control over our behaviors, and even our thoughts, we are not so smart. Both books are brilliantly written and entertaining. I actually have a signed copy of Incognito!!! Yes, I’m an nerd intellectual ;-). Trying to decide what to read next…hmmm. Ideas??
Now, fashion. I have been running around the city wearing salmon colored jeans I bought at Tangerine Boutique in an effort to break free from my comfort zone and try colored jeans. Ok, Ok, I haven’t been running around as much as using Uber to get around. Maybe I should rename this blog to “City Girls Take Ubers.” ;-). Anyway, I have also been obsessed with street style posts by fashion blog Fashables.
So there’s an update. As I always do, I am going to promise to post more often. This time I’m hoping to amaze and baffle myself by actually following through. Have to get over this ambivalence!
